Poila Boisakh
Venue : Wijkcentrumt Open Hof,
Haspelslaan 129, Amstelveen
The opening lines of Kobiguru’s song above has almost gathered the status of an anthem associated with heralding the Bengali New Year, each year in our lives. Greetings of the season, from all of us on behalf of the India Bengali Association in the Netherlands on the upcoming occassion of Poila Boishakh (Bengali New Year 1417).
To ensure we all can effectively participate in large numbers, we have planned to come together and celebrate this joyous occassion on 17 April, Saturday. Please lock this date in your diaries. The venue will be the same as some of our recent succesful events this year Wijkcentrum't Open Hof, Burg. Haspelslaan 129, 1181 NC, Amstelveen (see direction map). See below for programme timings.
Apart from the standard features of a bengali gathering i.e. khawa-dawa & adda we are putting together a good cultural programme (including folk dance, abbriti etc.) and together plan to play ‘housie’ with some great prizes up for grabs. The traditional Bengali food menu we are planning for Poila Boishakh will undoubtedly bring back a lot of nostalgia but we would rather keep it a surprise to be revealed on the day.
We look forward to seeing you all on the 17th April and your active participation in making the upcoming event a success. Kindly confirm your attendance as soon as possible (no later than March 31) via email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: You will be happy to know that as a result of your enthusiasm and concerted efforts of several committe members, almost coinciding with this joyous occassion - our association has now been given official status in the Netherlands. We are now a registered entity also with the Chamber of Commerce – the first ever Bengali club here to have received this status. Henceforth we will be known as KALLOL-IBANL. This status will help us conduct our affairs in a further improved manner and also give us other benefits associated with such a recognition. Come let us all give ourselves a big round of applause for this achievement, thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm that made this happen.
Regarding our registration and forthcoming committee election you will receive a separate email from us.
So on that happy note, here’s wishing you and your family a very happy start to the Bengali New Year. May God Almighty bestow upon all peace, good health and happiness.
Warm Regards
